LA TOMATINA Buñol (Valencia) what to do

People who go to the Tomatina, mainly choice between two options:

-The first option is to go the previous Tuesday, to know Buñol and its surroundings, and then spend the night partying in the open air pubs (in the St. Louis Park) or go to the disco-mobile with DJs (in the opposite zone, in the park Planell) in Buñol that night is known as "the Empalmá" because the town is full of people eager to party and the music is not over till the next morning.

At 9 am (approximately) is distributed wine and scones in the Town Hall Square
10 starts on the Bat-Soap (a kind of greasy pole, topped with a ham) the team who get it, win it. Meanwhile neighbors and firefighters Spraying water cooling the atmosphere.
More or less at 11 is given the starting signal of the Tomatina until have finished passing all the trucks.

-The second option (which is more stressful), is to go on Wednesday (keep in mind that you must walk about 2 miles at least to reach the area of La Tomatina and the trains will be full. So come with time).

If someone wants to come on Tuesday 28 August, I have planned a route of about 10 km.

The route starts at the train station of Buñol, about 12 hours, followed by a visit to the castle, the route is medium-low difficulty,  we'll walk to the Cueva del Turche (lake formed by a plummeting natural where we can take a swim) by mountain roads to reach the hostel of Actio in Alborache, where we will do an adventure activity Climbing in  climbing wall, hanging bridge Tirolina (flying fox?) and Archery (the activities depend on the number of participants). And whoever who want can also swim in the pool. At the end, we will walk to Alborache (which is at 1 kilometer or so) where we'll catch the bus to Buñol. Where the route ends.

Because it is necessary to confirm the hostel.During the tour I will explain history, curiosities and landmarks (including information on the party area and places to eat).

The finish time depends on the number of participants (more participants more adventurous activities, and therefore end up later.

According to many participants we are, the price will vary between 15 and 20 euros, including the route, adventure activity, the pool, the bus back (and once in Buñol backpack you can leave your in my home until the next dayif you want) .
How you arrive depends on each one, the food must be brought from home, but if someone wants, you can talk to the hostel and there you pay, will be paid before starting the route, and not wait for someone who is late from the departure time.

The route will be in English and Spanish, participants will be between 10 and 20 to make the adventure activity.

Recommendations for the route:
Wear sneakers or hiking boots (no flip flops), swimsuit (and a towel if you want), sun hat (and sunglasses), sunscreen (because even look for shade, there are not too many in Buñol), sandwich or similar (You can also wear it for dinner, although there are quite cheap prices), comfortable clothing, backpack (it is more comfortable and easier to leave in my home at night, or to take it away), water (we will find sources, but there are not potable water is from the mountain).

Recommendations for the Tomatina:
Comfortable old clothes that you don't mind throwing (because that's what will happens certain), old sneakers (if you don't do this sure that will end up in the rubbish) or sandals that are attached to the ankle (because otherwise you will lose it in 5 minutes), goggles are useful (because the acid of the tomato in the eyes is very disturbing), only cameras that can withstand water (you can buy a disposable).
For girls it is safer to use  swimsuit than the bikini (although this is forbidden there are some subnormal people trying to remove it), an airtight bag to keep valuables without getting wet.

LA TOMATINA de Buñol (Valencia) cosas que hacer

La gente que va a la Tomatina, principalmente opta entre dos opciones:

-La primera opción es ir el martes anterior para conocer Buñol y sus alrededores, y después pasar la noche de fiesta en la zona de pubs al aire libre (en la zona del parque de San Luis) o ir a la disco móvil con DJs (en la zona opuesta, en el parque del Planell), en Buñol a esa noche se la conoce como “La Empalmá” ya que el pueblo esta lleno de gente con ganas de fiesta y la música no acaba hasta la mañana siguiente.

A las 9 de la mañana (aproximadamente) se reparte vino y bollos en la plaza del ayuntamiento

Sobre las 10 comienza el Palo-Jabón (una especie de cucaña, coronada por un jamón) el equipo que lo consiga, se lo lleva. Mientras tanto vecinos y bomberos refrescan el ambiente lanzando agua.

Mas o menos a las 11 se da la señal de comienzo de la Tomatina hasta que acaben de pasar todos los camiones.

Si alguien quiere reservar un sitio donde dormir, que lo haga con tiempo. En la Web de la Tomatina, hay sugerencias, o también puedo aconsejaros si me contactáis.

-La segunda opción (que es más estresante), es ir el miércoles (ten en cuenta que deberás andar unos 2 kilómetros al menos para llegar, y los trenes estarán llenos. Así que ves con tiempo).

Si alguien quiere venir el martes 28 de Agosto, yo tengo planificada una ruta de unos 10 kilómetros.
La ruta comienza en la estación de tren de Buñol, sobre las 12, sigue con una visita al castillo, ruta de dificultad media baja, a pie hasta la Cueva del Turche (lago formado por un desplome natural, donde nos podemos dar un baño) por carreteras en la montaña, hasta llegar al albergue de Actio en Alborache, donde haremos una actividad de aventura de Escalada en Rocodromo, Tirolina, Puente Tibetano y Tiro con Arco (las actividades dependerán del numero de participantes). Y quien quiera  también podrá darse un baño en la piscina. Al finalizar, iremos andando hasta Alborache (que esta a 1 kilómetro mas o menos) donde cojeremos el autobús a Buñol. Donde finaliza la ruta.

Ya que es necesario confirmar al albergue.Durante el recorrido explicare historia, curiosidades y sitios de interés (incluyendo indicaciones sobre la zona de fiesta y sitios para comer).

La hora de finalización dependerá del numero de participantes (a más participantes mas actividades de aventura, y por tanto mas tarde acabaremos).

Según cuantos seamos, el precio variara entre 15 y 20 euros, incluye la ruta, la actividad de aventura, la piscina, el autobús de vuelta (y una vez en Buñol podréis dejar mochila en mi casa hasta el día siguiente, si queréis).
La forma de llegar, depende de cada uno, la comida se tiene que traer de casa, aunque si alguien quiere, se puede hablar con el albergue y se paga allí, se pagara antes de comenzar la ruta, y no se esperara a quien se retrase de la hora de salida.

La ruta será en Español e Ingles, los participantes tendrán q ser entre 10 y 20 para poder hacer la actividad de aventura.

Nadie que este borracho o con claros efectos de haber consumido drogas, podrá participar. Y se exige respeto con el resto de participantes (quien no lo tenga, abandonara la ruta)

Recomendaciones para la ruta:
Llevar zapatillas o botas de montaña(nada de chanclas), bañador (y toalla si queréis), gorra para el sol (y gafas de sol), crema solar (porque aunque buscaremos sombras, no hay demasiadas en Buñol), bocadillo o similar (también podéis llevarlo para cenar, aunque hay precios bastante baratos), ropa cómoda, mochila (es mas cómoda y más fácil para dejarla en mi casa por la noche, o llevársela), agua (encontraremos fuentes, pero no son potables, es agua de montaña).

Recomendaciones para la Tomatina:
Ropa vieja y cómoda que no os importe tirar (ya que es lo que seguro pasara), zapatillas viejas (si no acabaran para tirar) o chanclas q se atan al tobillo (porque sino las perderéis en 5 minutos), las gafas de buceo van bien (el ácido del tomate en los ojos es muy malo), solo cámaras de fotos que aguanten el agua (se venden de usar y tirar).
Para las chicas es mas seguro el bañador que el bikini (aunque esta prohibido hay subnormales que intentan quitarlos), una bolsa hermética para guardar cosas de valor sin que se mojen.

LA TOMATINA Buñol (Valencia) Curious facts.

Generally, the Tomatina is held the last Wednesday of August (although in recent years has changed to the previous Wednesday because coincided with August 31. La Tomatina festival takes place in the mid-week festivities of Buñol.

La Tomatina is a festival that consists in a battle with tomatoes of all against all along the main street of Buñol.
the People werte crowded (depending on years too much) from St. Louis Park, to Violet Avenue in a straight line following the succession of streets that cross the town side by side for a little over 1 kilometer largely through the old town of Buñol. Believe it or not (seeing the large number of people accumulated) for those narrow streets circulate several trucks (the number varies depending on the municipality's budget for that year) filled with tomatoes (and local people who throw tomatoes) and unload mountains of tomato in middle of the road along the route.
Every time a truck is close pushes the people out to make room and when it leave everyone turn inward to pick they can the more tomato that .

Tomatoes are grown specifically for the festival in Valencia area.

The townspeople which goes up to the trucks joins in the list many years in advance and are selected in a drawing.

The houses and shops in the area, cover the walls, doors and windows so it will not stain, and as the Tomatina ends within hours the town is once again clean.

No one can throw tomatoes (or anything else) before the festival started, or since the end of the housing ring.

On the streets of the side, there is often patrols Tomatoes, that litter the voyeurs who do not want to enter (although it's prohibited).

The audience of the Tomatina is becoming more international since its inception, and between the average of 45,000 visitors (far beyond surpassed many years), representatives of virtually every nationality.

Usually people wear white to notice more the tomato.

LA TOMATINA de Buñol (Valencia) Datos Curiosos.

Generalmente la Tomatina se celebra el ultimo miércoles de Agosto (aunque en los ultimos años, se ha cambiado al anterior miércoles por coincidir con el 31 de agosto. Por eso antes de planificar el viaje, es bueno mirar el calendario y entrar en su pagina Web oficial para confirmar si se ha cambiado. La fiesta de la Tomatina se celebra a mitad de la semana de fiestas de Buñol.

La Tomatina es una Fiesta que consiste en una batalla con tomates de todos contra todos a lo largo de la calle principal del pueblo de Buñol.

La gente se amontona (dependiendo de años demasiado) desde el Parque de San Luis, hasta la Avenida de la Violeta, en línea recta siguiendo la sucesión de calles que atraviesan el pueblo de lado a lado durante algo mas de 1 kilómetro, atravesando gran parte del casco antiguo de Buñol. Aunque parezca mentira (viendo la gran cantidad de gente acumulada) por esas estrechas calles circulan varios camiones (el numero varia según el presupuesto del ayuntamiento para ese año) cargados de tomates (y de gente del pueblo que lanzan tomates) y descargan  montañas de tomates en mitad de la calle a lo largo del recorrido.

Cada vez que se acerca un camión la gente empuja hacia fuera para dejarle sitio y al irse todos vuelven hacia dentro a coger cuantos más tomates puedan.

Los tomates, son cultivados expresamente para la fiesta en la Comunidad Valenciana.

La gente del pueblo que sube a los camiones se apunta en las listas con años de antelación y son seleccionados en un sorteo.

Las casas y comercios de la zona, forran sus paredes, puertas y ventanas para que no se  manchen, y en cuanto acaba la Tomatina en cuestión de horas el pueblo vuelve a estar limpio.

Nadie puede lanzar tomates (ni otras cosas) antes de que comience la fiesta, ni desde que suena la carcasa del final.

En las calles de al lado, muchas veces hay patrullas Tomateras q pringan a los mirones que no quieren entrar (aunque esta prohibido).

El publico de la Tomatina es cada vez más internacional desde sus orígenes, y entre la media de 45.000 visitantes (superada con creces muchos años), hay representantes de prácticamente todas las nacionalidades.

Generalmente la gente viste de blanco para que se note mas el tomate.

The concert is in Parque Central (Calle Ramon Menendez Pidal, in the town of Torrente located about 10 kilometers southwest of Valencia). The tube that comes to Torrent has a frequency of passage of 20 minutes, although the return must be by a different transport.

El concierto es en el Parque Central (calle Ramón Menéndez Pidal, en el pueblo de Torrente situado a unos 10 kilómetros al Suroeste de Valencia). El metro que llega a Torrent tiene una frecuencia de paso de 20 minutos, aunque la vuelta tendrá que ser por otros medios.

20 hours of DJs Funky Night with DJs of discos Jardines del RealLa Indiana and Unsur among others, of the 80's and 90's.
The night will end at 2 am (with a break from 22 to 00 hours for dinner). In the gardens of Palau, free admission.

20 horas Noche de DJs Funky, con los DJs de las discotecas Jardines del Real, La Indiana Y Unsur entre otras, de la década de los 80 y 90.

La noche acabara a las 2 de la mañana (con una pausa de 22 a 00 horas para cenar). En los Jardines del Palau, entrada gratuita.

LOW COST FESTIVAL Benidorm 27-28-29 July

The LOW COST FESTIVAL was born 3 years ago in Benidorm (Alicante) (located about 140 kilometers south of Valencia) beeing an alternative music festival. Due to the large number of public, last year the site was change now is held at The Sports City Guillermo Amor.

This festival is very different from FIB, among other things because if you have groups of independent music too, is more focused on a national audience (though it's hard to believe, because Benidorm lives of tourists) also attempts to be environmentally sustainable, no camping own, but has an agreement with a local camping and the bus line that goes up there, has parking for bikes. The beach is close but not on the concerts area.

It has 3 stages, at the box office can only buy bonds of 3 days, so if you go for less time purchase it online or at the authorized stores. The prices vary greatly depending on the number of peopleif you want camping and the type of pack.

The Web is very complete, soyou can look for more information on it (though I think is in Spanish only).
